Crâmpoșie Selecționată is the lead variety of Drăgășani in Oltenia. It was developed in 1972 at the research station in Drăgășani from the old landrace Crâmpoșie, by free pollination, to remedy that variety's fertility problems. The original Crâmpoșie once formed the basis of the region's vineyards. The variety serves both for winemaking and as a table grape.
The berries are thick-skinned, greenish-yellow and rust-speckled at ripeness, and can hang on the vine for a long time. The wines are fresh and fruity, at 9 to 12 % alcohol and an acidity of 3.5 to 5.8 g/l; typical are citrus, green apple and grass. The acidity favours its use as a base wine for sparkling.
Crâmpoșie Selecționată pairs with fish, poultry and beef; as sparkling wine it serves as an aperitif.
