One of the world's oldest grapes – the wine that tastes of grapes. Dry and fragrant in the Pfalz and Alsace, with elderflower and nutmeg.

Muskateller, called Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains in France and Moscato bianco in Italy, is a very old variety of Mediterranean origin that carries the characteristic muscat fragrance in many variants. In Germany it is listed as Gelber Muskateller and is planted in Pfalz and Hessische Bergstraße, in Alsace as Muscat d'Alsace. Further plantings exist in Dobrudja and Transylvania.
The vine buds mid-season and ripens early to mid-season. It is sensitive to mildew and coulure and needs warm sites with well-drained soils. Wines are mostly made dry, slim and with muscat, citrus and elderflower. Sweet versions are also common.
Muskateller goes as an aperitif, with asparagus, salads, fish and light Asian cooking.
