Saint-Estèphe

The northernmost of the great Médoc communes — cooler, richer in clay, more robust. Saint-Estèphe wines are the left bank's most rustic and longest-lived: dark, earthy, firmly structured. With more Merlot on clay, modern vintages grow increasingly fleshy.
