Climate, site & wine

Clay-loam and limestone store water and give well-filled wines with medium acidity; sandy and iron-rich soils also occur. The position on the edge of the plain allows full ripeness in both international and local red varieties.

Fetească Regală gives dry to off-dry whites with apple and citrus, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon medium to full-bodied reds with dark fruit, Fetească Neagră spicier reds. Recaș is a well-known wine-growing area of the Banat with its own protected designation of origin and home to the Cramele Recaș winery.
