Saint-Julien is the Médoc's straight-A student — never extreme, always flawless.
Climate, site & wine
Deep gravel soils with clay content over clay and limestone provide even drainage and water supply; roots reach several metres deep. Cabernet Sauvignon predominates, complemented by Merlot and Cabernet Franc.
The wines combine power and elegance: dark fruit, cedar, graphite, with firm yet finely woven tannin and good ageing potential. Saint-Julien is regarded as a balanced style between Pauillac and Margaux.

CLIMATE · Maritime
Oceanic climate right on the Gironde: the river dampens frost and heat spikes. Mild, long autumns let Cabernet Sauvignon ripen reliably. Rain at harvest affects individual vintages.
TOPOGRAPHY · gentle
Deep gravel plateaus and mounds between Pauillac and Margaux, flat to gently undulating and only a few metres above the river. The Garonne gravels lie as terraces over a subsoil of clay, limestone and marl; the best plots sit on slightly raised mounds.
