Climate, site & wine
Skeletal, iron-rich soils over Palaeozoic sericite and chlorite schists, plus loam and clay from Pleistocene deposits, give the reds structure and fine spice. The wines are medium-bodied with moderate acidity and fairly fine tannin.
Miniș-Măderat is regarded as one of the oldest wine-growing areas in Romania. Cadarcă de Miniș (Kadarka) is documented here since 1744 and gives pale, spicy reds with cherry and pepper. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir are also grown, and the white Mustoasă de Măderat has been revived.

Temperate climate on the western edge of the Carpathians with warm summers, mild autumns and moderately cold winters. The vineyards lie on the western side of the Zărand Mountains, and south-facing slopes capture plenty of sun.

Hills and slopes on the western side of the Zărand Mountains east of Arad around Miniș and Măderat. Vines grow on moderately to fairly steeply inclined slopes, often facing south.
