Climate, site & wine
Light clays mixed with limestone fragments over Middle and Upper Jurassic limestone and marl give Pinot Noir and Chardonnay freshness, tension and aromatic purity.
The subsoil at Villars-Fontaine corresponds to the Upper Jurassic of the Corton-Charlemagne hill but lies markedly higher. Aligoté rounds out the wines. Blackcurrant grows as a second crop among the vines; Marey-lès-Fussey is marked by woodland, limestone quarries and small red fruits.
