Ivești and Tecuci on the Siret plain: flat sand and loess soils, light whites and reds.
Climate, site & wine
Sand and loess are light, free-draining and warm up quickly; along the Siret the ground consists of layers of gravel, sand and loess. The wines remain slender to medium-bodied and fruity, the reds with low tannin density.
Fetească Regală and Fetească Albă give dry to off-dry whites with apple and blossom aromas, Băbească Neagră and Merlot simple, cherry-fruited reds. Ivești is one of Romania's old wine-growing areas; the style is unpretentious and regional in character.

Loose sand and wind-blown sand warm up quickly and hold little water — they give aromatic, early-drinking wines with soft tannins; phylloxera-resistant.

Loess stores water and nutrients. Wines tend to be rounder, juicier and fuller.
CLIMATE · Cool continental
Continental climate in the Tecuci Plain near the Siret with cold winters, warm summers and rather low rainfall. In open, flat terrain wind and dryness are characteristic, and there is a frost risk in winter and spring.

Flat to gently undulating terrain in the Tecuci Plain (Câmpia Tecuciului) around Ivești, bounded to the west by the Siret. Vines grow on terraces and low rises above the river valley.
