TERROIR PROFILE
Dacilor
Dacilor – Romania's warmest climate
Jiana, Izvoarele and Vrata in south-western Oltenia: own-rooted vines on wind-blown sand, light whites and Roșioară.
Climate, site & wine
Sand is light, very free-draining and heats up strongly, so grapes ripen fast with little disease pressure. The wines are soft and fruit-driven, with low acidity and little minerality. Phylloxera struggles in sandy soils, so vines here often grow on their own roots.
Fetească Regală, Riesling Italico, Băbească Neagră, Cabernet Sauvignon and the local Roșioară are common varieties. The whites are full and mild, the reds soft with ripe fruit and little tannin, and Roșioară yields rosé wines.
