On the Garonne's right bank, directly opposite Sauternes and Barsac, lie the sweet-wine appellations Loupiac, Sainte-Croix-du-Mont and Cadillac plus the red-wine slopes of Cadillac Côtes de Bordeaux (formerly Premières Côtes). The same autumn mists, the same noble rot — on steep limestone slopes with fossil oyster beds. The wines are lighter and fresher than Sauternes; the reds juicy and Merlot-led.
