Zeletin lies in eastern Romania between Bacău and Vrancea counties. The podgorie includes Podu Turcului and Dealu Morii in Bacău County and Gohor in Galați County, in the area of the Zeletin river. The vineyards extend over broad hillside sites along the valley, at the edge of the Moldavian Plateau.
The climate is continental, with warm summers and cold winters. The soils are loess and sandy loam, which are well aerated and warm easily. The slope sites favour ventilation of the vines.
Fetească Albă and Fetească Regală are grown, along with Aligoté for white wine, and Băbească Neagră and Merlot for red. The podgorie's vineyard area is large, and the wines are mostly light and fresh and intended for regional consumption. Aligoté yields acid-driven whites, Băbească Neagră pale, fruity reds.
