Climate, site & wine

Sand and chernozem on the plain are deep and warm; vines ripen early and yield fruit-driven, soft wines with moderate to low acidity.

Teremia Mare and Jamu Mare are wine centres of the Banat. The vines on the plain were planted by Danube Swabians, an exception since viticulture in the Banat otherwise lies mainly in hill sites. Teremia Mare is also known for the Marienfelder brandy. Grown are, among others, Fetească Regală, Riesling Italico, Creață and Merlot.

Warm Pannonian climate in the Banat plain near the Serbian border with warm to hot summers and rather low rainfall. The open plain offers little shelter from wind.
