Climate, site & wine
The sand of the Carei Plain (Câmpia Careiului) is light, warm and low in nutrients and holds little water. The wines remain slender and fragrant, with moderate acidity. Drought and nutrient scarcity limit yields.
The wine-growing area spans Bihor and Satu Mare counties in the far north-west of Romania. Fetească Regală, Fetească Albă, Riesling Italico and Furmint give dry to off-dry whites with apple and blossom notes; Furmint adds somewhat more spice and acidity.
