Climate, site & wine
Sand and loam warm up well and drain quickly, giving light to medium-bodied wines with fruit and moderate acidity.
Diosig is regarded as the wine centre of Bihor County; the first indirect mentions of its wine date from around 1390 to 1400. Traditional specialities include Bakator, Riesling and Furmint. Fetească Regală, Fetească Albă and Riesling Italico yield dry to off-dry whites with apple and blossom, while Furmint gives tauter, spicy wines with higher acidity.

Loose sand and wind-blown sand warm up quickly and hold little water — they give aromatic, early-drinking wines with soft tannins; phylloxera-resistant.

Temperate continental climate on the edge of the Pannonian Plain with warm summers, cold winters and moderate rainfall. The open terrain makes late spring frosts possible, and ripening is mid-season.

Gently rolling hill country north of the Crișul Repede around Diosig and Marghita. Vineyards lie on flat ridges and lightly sloping hillsides on the edge of the plain.
