Climate, site & wine
Cambic chernozems and regosols are the typical vineyard soils. The wines are fruity and medium-bodied with moderate acidity.
Fetească Albă, Fetească Regală, Riesling Italico and Aligoté yield dry to off-dry whites with apple and citrus notes. The red Băbească Neagră gives pale, fresh wines with cherry fruit, long customary in the southern Moldavian vineyards. Long, dry autumns support full ripening of the late-ripening grapes.
