Climate, site & wine
Loess over limestone stores water at depth and gives the wines freshness and a fine minerality. The long ripening period leads to full-bodied, ripe wines; late-harvest grapes with high sugar levels are a regional speciality, helped by the Black Sea extending the autumn.
Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Muscat Ottonel and Sauvignon Blanc yield dry to sweet whites of medium to full body; Riesling Italico, Tămâioasă Românească and red Pinot Noir also play a role.
