Climate, site & wine
The sweet-wine plots lie on gravel with sand and small stones over a limestone bedrock. Sémillon supplies substance, Sauvignon Blanc freshness.
The appellation dates from 1936; the sweet wines are lighter than Sauternes, with honey and apricot. There are only seven producers, and more output goes into dry Graves. The Ciron is a tributary of the Garonne; at the confluence water of different temperatures mixes.

The cold Ciron meets the warmer Garonne and produces mist that enables noble rot, as in the Sauternais. Cérons lies in the south of the Bordeaux region.
