Climate, site & wine

Clay-loam and limestone soils give the wines of Aiud a mineral-tinged structure. Cool ripening retains acidity and emphasises citrus and orchard-fruit aromas.

Fetească Regală, Fetească Albă, Sauvignon Blanc and Riesling Italico yield fresh, dry whites of medium body. Sauvignon Blanc here leans towards grassy, citrus notes rather than tropical fruit. The podgorie lies on the western edge of the Transylvanian Plateau, at the foot of the Trascău Mountains.
