Climate, site & wine
Weathered granite soils with varying loess content dominate here. The light, free-draining soils give Riesling a fine, floral and fragrant imprint, while Spätburgunder stays fine and spicy.
Typical are elegant, medium-bodied wines with moderate acidity, produced in very small quantities. Plots on the Melibokus are farmed in terraces; the town is one of the smaller wine villages of the Bergstraße.

Steep slopes below the Melibokus, the region's highest mountain, whose vineyard plots are terraced. Steingeröll and Alte Burg are among the steepest sites on the Bergstraße.
